Reserving a Room

VisitPittsburgh Housing Department will handle all hotel reservations. VisitPittsburgh Housing cannot accept hotel reservations over the phone. Below are your options for booking hotel reservations. The VisitPittsburgh Housing Bureau is able to answer any questions via e-mail at housing@visitpittsburgh.com.

Several hotels are available at reduced convention rates: Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown, Doubletree Hotel & Suites, Marriott City Center, Omni William Penn, Westin Convention Center.

The 2008 NYWC-Pittsburgh online reservation Web site includes information on each hotel regarding location, amenities, and pricing. You must make all room reservations through the 2008 NYWC-Pittsburgh website to get the reduced rate. Be sure and reserve your room early to get the best selection of hotels.

THE LAST DAY TO MAKE RESERVATIONS AND RECEIVE THE CONFERENCE RATE IS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7th, 2008. Depending on availability, rooms may be reserved through VisitPittsburgh Housing until October 14th, 2008. Beginning October 15th, please contact the hotels directly for availability and pricing and to make changes to your reservation.

Hotel Check-In

• Check into the hotel immediately upon arrival. (Since your room probably won't be available until 4 pm, the hotel will provide storage for your luggage.)
• Check in with a major credit card (even if you wish to pay your final bill by check).
  Note: It is recommended that a debit card not be used for hotel check-in as many hotels block your estimated total bill as a guarantee. Credit card check-in allows you to charge all expenses to your room. If you choose not to use a credit card, you must pay cash in advance, and you may not charge anything to your room.
• Settle your final bill with cash, traveler's checks, major credit card, or check (driver's license and major credit card required). Church checks made out to the hotel for the exact amount will be accepted width credit card back up. No third-party checks are accepted.
• Pennsylvania hotels cannot accept out-of-state tax exempt certificates. Your not-for-profit organization may apply for a temporary sales tax exemption in Pennsylvania, however, this exemption is limited and does not apply to the tax imposed by hotels/motels. It would only apply to the 6% PA state sales. Further, it may take as long as 6 months to be granted temporary tax exempt status. More information can be found at www.revenue.state.pa.us.
• Many hotels now have a surcharge if you check out earlier than scheduled. When you check into your hotel, be sure your checkout date is correct.

Changes/Cancellation Policy

No charge will be assessed for room cancellations made prior to 72 hours before noon on your scheduled check in date. Cancellations received within 72 hours of arrival forfeit a one night's room charge and tax. Changes may be made online, by e-mail, fax or phone prior to October 15. Changes may be made by with the hotel directly AFTER October 15 as needed prior to arrival.

FAILURE TO CANCEL RESERVATIONS BY NOON (EST), THREE DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL DATE, FORFEITS THE FIRST NIGHT'S ROOM RATE AND TAX.

Airport Shuttle

All of the downtown hotels use the same airport shuttle service called Express Shuttle. Departures leave the Airport every 1/2 hour Sunday - Friday 7am-11:00 pm and Saturday 7 am - 9 pm. The service desk is centrally located on the landside, ground transportation level of the Pittsburgh International Airport. Rental Cars

Rental car counters are located on the baggage claim level of the Landside Terminal.

Taxis

Ground Transportation is provided on the Landside terminal outside of baggage claim. A one-way ride from the airport to downtown will cost approximately $40.00 (one-way).

PA 60 S to US-30 E becomes I-279 N through the Ft. Pitt Tunnels and across the Ft. Pitt Bridge. Take Ft. Duquesne Blvd Exit 6C. Follow sign to Convention/Strip District on 10th Street Bypass. Convention Center located on the right.

FROM THE EAST | PA TURNPIKE
I-76 W (PA Turnpike) to Exit 57 Pittsburgh. Take I-376 W to Exit 2B Blvd. of the Allies. Take I-579 N to Seventh Ave /Convention Center Exit. Take Seventh Ave. Turn right onto William Penn Way. William Penn Way becomes 10th St. Convention Center straight ahead.

FROM THE WEST | PA TURNPIKE
I-76 E (PA Turnpike) to Exit 28 Cranberry. Follow signs to I-79 S to I-279 S across Ft. Duquesne Bridge to 10th Street Bypass. Convention Center located on the right.

FROM THE NORTH
I-79 S to I-279 S across Ft. Duquesne Bridge to 10th Street Bypass. Convention Center located on the right.

FROM THE SOUTH
I-79 N to Exit 59 A Pittsburgh to I-279 N through Ft. Pitt Tunnels and across the Ft. Pitt Bridge. Take Ft. Duquesne Blvd Exit 6C. Follow sign to Convention/Strip District on 10th Street Bypass. Convention Center located on the right.
