Megan Hutchinson

Megan has served students and their families for 16 years. She is a YS One Day training team member and a student minister at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, where she runs an eight-step "recovery" program that she coauthored for hurting teens called Life Hurts, God Heals. She also coauthored Help! I'm a Woman in Youth Ministry and the September 2008 release for students Secret Survivors: Real-Life Stories to Give You Hope for Healing.

Secret Survivors: Helping Teens Reveal and Heal Their Hidden Struggles

In this seminar youth workers will get a better understanding of some of the major struggles that today’s teens are dealing with (and hiding) and how to help. We’ll explore ways to help students open up about their secrets and begin the healing process. We’ll also walk through ways that youth workers can come alongside and be a trusted friend through the healing process. This seminar includes real-life stories that will show youth workers what helps students move toward healing and what hinders them from opening up about their secrets in the first place. Struggles addressed will include: Cutting, porn addiction, physical abuse, rape, drug and alcohol abuse, and more.
