Bishop Sherwood C. Carthen is the lead pastor of Bayside of South Sacramento, founder and director of the Our Family Community Foundation, and the Chair of Stakeholders for the National African American Tobacco Education Network. Carthen serves as President of the National Black Clergy for Substance Abuse Prevention. Most recently, he received the Martin Luther King Jr. Difference Makers Award for Unity of the Church. He's also the Chaplain for the Sacramento Kings.
