Training & Learning

Seminars & Intensives

One of the main priorities at NYWC has always been about training and equipping youth workers.

We know that there’s always something new for us to learn, especially as the culture continues to change, and new youth workers and volunteers join the world of youth ministry. That’s why NYWC includes more than 40 seminars led by veteran youth workers, professors of youth ministry, and in-the-trenches youth workers. You’ll also find our optional 5-hour, pre-event Intensives, where you can dig deeper into a topic.

Beyond the seminars, you’ll find tons of other opportunities for training and learning as you interact with other youth workers throughout the weekend.

YS Explores (NEW this year!)

Following both of our Big Room: YS Explores sessions you’ll find opportunities to continue exploring the topics we just covered. The seminar block after YS Explores will offer a few different options that allow you to engage further on the topic of Faith, Science, and Adolescence or Youth Ministry in a Multicultural World. These seminars may include round-table discussions, panel discussions, or other opportunities for you to interact with other youth workers and find ways to apply what you learned in the YS Explores session to your own youth ministry context.

Theology Track

It’s in the Theology Track that youth workers have the chance to expand one another’s minds. Attend one of the theology seminars, or join in on a roundtable discussion. Listen to leaders in the youth ministry academic world and participate in the conversation. ultimately, the goal is that your theology informs how and why you do youth ministry, so dig deeper into the foundational beliefs of your ministry.
